Ferguson’s Burning
Darren Wilson killed Michael Brown
Eighteen years old now he's dead in the ground
He shot him six times, his hands over his head
He held not a weapon, he was not a threat
Michael Brown died in the Ferguson streets
Officer Wilson got weeks of paid leave
The message was clear, broadcast over the nation
Kill a young black man, win a vacation

[Chorus]
Ferguson's burning, and the world's turning away, turning away

The folks of Missouri, they could not stand by
They took to the streets and let angry flags fly
The all-white police force felt that they had to step in
They met 'em with SWAT gear and chemical weapons
They stirred up the chaos and turned on the masses
Turned out the street lights, wore night vision glasses
The Governor urges we must react calmly
While the killers in power turn into an army

[Chorus]

When the fires burn out and the tear gas disperses
When the work is all done for the doctors and the nurses
The cops may stop shooting and the streets get less wild
But Michael Brown's mother will never get back her child
The hatred and fear White America harbours
Will only grow bigger beneath thick body armour
So keep a close eye on our laws and our leaders
No justice for Mike Brown, there's none for you either
[Chorus]
