Denial
I bought my first full length mirror
Set it up and stood there naked looking at myself
And now I want to blow my brains out
The man I was has been replaced
Now out of shape
A growing waistline
Big love handles
Those lady hips
Now what is that about

I was wrong for all these years
Trusting my houses other mirrors
Now the truth is clear as day
I got to throw that full length one away
I’m in denial, denial yeah I’m in denial, denial
I like it in denial cause it’s safer in denial

Driving down the street I pass the hourly hotel
And saw my wife inside a room with some guy
She was getting paid
Straight into the room I flew
And said "I can’t believe that you have taken on a second job here as a hotel maid"
What a selfless act of love
You’re my angel from above
She said "Yeah sure and this is John"
As she pulled her underwear back on
I’m in denial, denial yeah I’m in denial, denial
Man, just shut up and smile, cause it’s safer in denial

2016 was Orlando and Harambe and Aleppo
And Mohammed Ali, Prince and Shandling dead at 66
England's shocking vote for Brexit
Bowie made his final exit
Man I thought this year so far has sucked a bunch of dicks

Surely the rest will turn out great
Cut to Tuesday, November 8
I laughed his odds are none-to-slim
Who’d be shit enough to vote for him

I was in denial, denial
Now we’re all in denial, denial
Man this fucking world is vile, it’s vile
But it’s safer in denial, it’s safer in denial
