GUMI
The Disappearing Act
Never have I ever
Seen a better act
Comprehensible it seems
Despite lacking originality

It does so

It wasn’t my intention
For things to go on this long
My attraction is low enough
It’s almost non-existent

It seems so

I can see the signs
The clown draws on a happy smile
This circus has gone on too long
A carousel for a brain
Has caused me immense pain
It never stops repeating
I want off this ride

Never once have I been seen
Doing the out of ordinary
I follow along to the beat
Yet people off key are given candy
Applauding those out of bounds
A ringmaster who lost his hounds
The threat remains, no one believes
That I’m really here
I’ve disappeared

Sneaking out as part of the audience
To get out of this hell
My mentality is slipping
As my name ain’t even said at all

At all

The people here live in a farce
And yell at the top of their lungs
A trapeze artist falls
And the lions eat them whole

What a pity

I can see the signs
This clown draws on a happy smile
This circus has gone on too long
A novelty collection
Of all the things I’ve held dear
Everything leaves my vision
It’s the end of me

Never once have I been seen
Doing the out of ordinary
I follow along to the beat
Yet people off key are given candy
Applauding those out of bounds
A ringmaster who lost his hounds
The threat remains, no one believes
That I’m really here
I’ve disappeared

Maybe one day, I will be seen
As the person I want to be
But I never will in this state
All I want is a clean slate
To practice the talent I don’t have
But you’re the one holding me back
So please give me some space to breathe

I’ve disappeared
No one wants to see me again
I like to stay on key
And that’s what putting me away
I never wanted this
A circus act with no purpose
There’s no one else to bargain
Now I’ll disappear again
