Dr. Dog
Ebenezer Scrooge
It was Christmas eve, I was all alone
And my old heart was just like a stone
And I didn't want no one to bother me

My eyes were red, my lips were blue
My cheeks were cold and shriveled too
I's as mean as mean could ever be

But look at all I'd come to own
Those velvet walls, that golden throne
I'd sit inside and hide my misery

And the only friend that I could claim
Is a pale old ghost who came in change
To warn me of my ill-begottеn fate

He said he livеd his life regretfully
So full of fear and full of greed
And for him the chance to change was much too late

But he said that I was Ebenezer Scrooge
That I still had some life to lose
And that maybe I should open up the gate

For spirits come from yesterday
And spirits come from yet to come
He said follow them, and do not hesitate
Then he hung his head and he drifted away
And he left me there that winter day
So I opened up my heart to have a look

And I saw all the way back to the day
My true love no longer stay
For I was just a miser and a crook

And with her parting but a year behind
I saw the life she went on to find
It was a picture-perfect storybook

And it made me cry as my buckles shook
Oh my, oh I had found the hook
I got out of there, that was all I could take

Then I looked out through the frosted glass
To see the world that's yet to pass
And returned to my ignorance at once

But on the snowy streets below
I saw children with no place to go
Forgotten in the cold winter morn'

And it made me cry as my buckles shook
And once again I found the hook
I saw the world outside that I denied
And life was turning into dream
My heart was bursting the seams
Bah, Humbug, I tried it, but I lied

Christmas Eve will soon be Christmas morning
Not before it's final warning
The spirit of what's yet to come

It showed me the funeral of a rich old man
Who never shared or lent a hand
And no one cared to say goodbye

It showed me the funeral of a poor young boy
Who lived a life of love and joy
And the whole town cried and cried

Oh why, oh why, oh me oh my
I'm on my knees I'm horrified
To think of all the lies that I believe

For all my wealth and all my clout
There's so much I have gone without
Forgive me, oh mercy me

As sure as I am here to say
As sure as this is Christmas day
Redemption is my guarantee
So I made my plate, I took my place
Among the ones that live in grace
With love and generosity

For I am Ebenezer Scrooge
Though I am old, my day is new
It's Christmas time and I'm free
It's Christmas time and I'm free
It's Christmas time and I'm free
Yeah, It's Christmas time and I'm free

Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahhhhhhh
