Virgil (poet)
Emergency
In an emergency

Would you neglect to need me?
If every rock and tree
Depended on you

In an emergency

Would you forget to feed me?
And if I forgot to breathe
What would you do?
Maybe you know
Deep in my heart I'm shallow
What else does this show?
My needing to know

In an emergency

Would you protect or leave me?
And in your hour of urgency
Would it be easy?
Maybe you'll find
It's better to be right than kind
Or maybe this time
You'll be on my side
