Just Understanding
Who would I be if no-one cared
If not one person looked my way,
Said 'good morning' 'afternoon'
Or passed the time of day? .

That lonely person walking
Muttering to a bird
Who may just stand still long enough
So my voice could be heard.

Staring at a pool of water
That was all alone as I
United as a tear fell
From a sad movement of my eye.

Strolling with my shadow
That would be forced to stay with me,
As long as the sun shone
I would at least have company.

Looking towards the horizon
Trying to lift myself from gloom,
Not wishing to return home
To my vacant sitting room.

I would have learnt a lesson
As I sent a prayer up to the sky
With a greater understanding
Why some lonely people sit and cry.
