Hugh Masekela
Khauleza (Live)
We'd like pay tribute to the great Dorothy Masuka
Because without her we wouldn't have heard all those songs in the 40's and the 50's and the 60's that she wrote
Kutheni uzulu, Kutheni imali yam i pheleli ijwaleni, Nontsokolo. Just a endless row of songs. And because of her a whole lot of ladies from the townships and the rural areas came up with a Mbaqanga style, and as you know people like the dark city sisters, Intombi ezimnyama, Intombi zesimanjemanje, Intombi zesinqashiwe, Mahotela Queens, Miriam Makeba and the [?]. They all came from Dorothy Masuku, and we'd like to pay tribute to her with this song
