Florence Welch
This poem is not good enough
This poem is not good enough
Like my rounded belly when I was nine
compared
To the concave shinning plastic
Of a Barbie doll's waist
Or to the weights of celebrities
In magazines

This poem is not good enough because
Other women have also written poems
And, as everyone knows
There can only be one woman
Above all the others
Who has clawed and killed to get there
But maybe she doesn`t have children
So
She's not good enough either
And she dies on the heap
with the rest of us

This poem is not good enough
It lacks the casual everyday glamour
Of french girls on Instagram
cannot solve climate change
got 4 out 5 stars
And 3 in the Guardian
Whichs means it`s terrible
and should burned
This poem is not good enough
because
It does not have a degree
Desries too much
And uses 'like' conversationally
This poem is not good enough
Because it isn´t perfect
Only God is perfect
But I haven´t read any of God's poetry
And I'm not sure we could understand It anyway,
like how cats don't know how to use the telephone
Maybe the universe is God's poem
And we haven't evolved the language capacity to read it
But then our iPhones do
and it just says
'WOOOO HOOOO'
With lots of exclamation
Points
!!!!!!

When they take over the planet
God is glad because we are
Helpless, destructive,
Ignorant of cosmic instructions
like
Blooming flowers,
carbon dioxide and baby foxes
This poem is not good enough
But I don´t know how to stop it
I have been bleeding out in public
For so long
And all I know is, all I have been taught
is that it is
Both
Not good enough
And still, somehow
Too much
