The Lowlands of Holland
My love has built a bonnie ship and he set her on the sea
With seven scores guid mariner for to bear her company
There's threescore is sank, my lad, and threescore dead at sea;
And the lowlands o' Holland hae twined my love and me

My love, he built another ship, and he set her on the main
Wi' none but twenty mariners for to bring her safely hame;
But the weary wind began to rise, the sea began to route
My love then and his bonnie ship turned withershins about

There'll neither coif come on my head, nor comb onto my hair;
There shall neither coal nor candle-light shine in my bower mair;
Nor will I love another one until the day I dee
For I never loved a love but ain, and he is drowned in the sea

O, hauld yer tongue, my daughter dear, be still and be content;
There are mair lads in Galloway, ye needna sair lament
O, there's is nane in Galloway, there's nane at a' for me
For I never loved a love but ain, and he is drowned in the sea
