Stephen Sondheim
Act 2: Saturday Night (Reprise)
[TED, spoken]
Yes, I'll hold the phone, thank you. Anyway, she's home.

[RAY, spoken]
Don't mention my name. I don't think she liked me.

[DINO]
I know a dame in Richmond Hill

[RAY]
Yeah, but will she—?

[DINO]
She will!
She's what I'd call a well-built beast

[RAY]
Has she got two—?

[DINO]
At least

[ARTIE, spoken]
Hello, Flo? How are you, this is Artie. You remember Artie? No no no, we didn't meet at a speakeasy. We discussed going, but we never quite got there. Look Flo, I'm surprised, it's only been a week—

[DINO, spoken]
Hey, mention the four of us. She might remember the combination.
[ARTIE, spoken]
Yeah, look, Flo, does this ring a bell? Artie, Ray, Ted and Dino? She says it doesn't really ring a bell, it hits a nerve. Look, Flo—okay, good night. She says her date's at the door.

[TED]
When you are by your lonesome
All you can do is phone some
Broad who says she's already got a date

[DINO]
Wish that I knew a girlie
Who'd like to retire early
And get up late!

[RAY]
Who wants to scare up a poker game?

[ARTIE]
I wanna scare up a dame

[DINO]
Call up a dame
And invite her to see
A show—

[TED]
Call up a dame
And her answer'll be—
No go!
[ARTIE]
What's the result of the trouble
You took to reach her?
A single man at a double
Lousy feature

[RAY]
Midnight ahead
And the hay to be hit—alone

[TED]
You made your bed
So you're lyin' in it—alone

[DINO]
Sunday, the day of rest
Should be a welcome sight—

[TED, RAY, DINO & ARTIE]
But who needs a rest
After resting all Saturday night?
