Follow the Master
[Verse 1]
Biblical discipleship / let me set a spark to this discussion of it / dip into the Word of God and draw some wisdom coming from it / solidify what's coming from the Lord and not what's brought across a broad spectrum of a world that’s destined for a plummet / it’s only right that when I speak I be complete so let us step on common ground on this subject and peep the Greek / the word disciple can be translated as student / and more specifically in Jesus’ day as something that the Jews did / it was practiced by rabbinic teachers / scholars and the scribes / and mostly used to keep interpretation views alive / it was a viable method / reliable for the passing of lessons / the type of process that leaves a lasting impression / intensive in the sense of the apprentice’s commitment / hence it's something that was entered with intent to be relentless / so a disciple was a student of his teacher and discipleship the term used referring to that season /

[Verse 2]
So now you got the background / we can step directly to the scene / recollect it from the text and check the blessed Nazarene / He’s the supreme example of redemption in a culture / even with the practice of discipleship He seen amongst 'em / He viewed the Jewish teachers in the culture of His time / took some dudes that He would choose to get 'em coached in the Divine / used a missionary tactic / took their practice then He leveraged it / in ministry today you’d say He’s culturally relevant / but while disciples of men would be dropping gems / a disciple of Christ would drop his whole life just to follow Him / while other teachers would seek to preserve tradition / Jesus would bleed and put in His work for the Great Commission / but don’t get it twisted He lived with a different purpose / yet He took what the teachers did as something that He could work with / He used discipleship as a tool to be missional / so let's be mindful His example is truly applicable /

[Verse 3]
While Jesus walked the earth He called some people to be with Him and to follow Him / He rounded up a squadron of them / a rowdy conglomerate / He stacked His roster and drafted a bunch of different men / amongst them was a tax collector and a couple fishermen / and though literally we can’t walk with Him today / He’s still calling out for us to seek Him and forsake our ways / cause the cost of discipleship is renouncing our life to get / a righteousness from Christ plus eternal life and the tightest gift / to know Jesus / behold Him in perfect worship / this is the hope we're holding and purpose we walk the earth with / so let's follow the Master and serve as His ambassadors / perhaps we can impact the masses and some will come after Him / but sometimes I think that we listen but still miss it / cause we seem to split up discipleship from evangelism / cause the call is for Christians to live our lives on a mission / as what’s captured in the words of Christ in the Great Commission /
