Robert Burns
New Lang Syne
Should old acquaintance be forgot
Or not, why go ask me?
I’ve got my crew and you do too
And with luck, our memory

Should new acquaintance be recalled
Depends, can I speak true?
By 76, I’ve met so many dumb ass pricks
Wish I could remember you

I know your face from some damned place
Just like a million other mugs
So please be kind, Sir give some reminder
Remember, I’ve done a zillion drugs

Old friends we miss, we’re glad for this
Our hearts have riches sweet
Such hands we held when friendships gelled
And there’s time for more to meet

But I confess that I digress
Tis pertinenter to remember thusly
That if you care this tune to share
Brains rot but hearts just grow more muscly

So should old acquaintance be forgot
That’s fine, our flaws are not bare bottom
Be gladder than glad for all great friends we’ve had
And don’t forget the friends that we’ve forgotten
