James Joyce
Indefinitely
There aren’t the words to even hint
At the weight of my discontent
With fate
Every time a mirror shows
My passing image my lonely host
I know

I’ve seen my stars burn out
Too many times for me to count
So it hurts to realize
The fading spirit within your eyes
I give a final sigh
For another soul that chose to hide
And I think of how close I’ve come
To burning out
But I moved on

I’m just another victim
Of a self-inflicted vision
In loving memory of unattained possibility
I remain untruly yours indefinitely
