The Panhandlers
I-Got-Your-Back-Dog
[Cleto Cordero]

I used to have a white little dog
That would sit at the foot of my bed
His warm little body kept my doggies from barking
Over his sleeping old head

He ain't no-attack-dog
No-bird-pointing-track-dog
He's far from a lap dog
He's a good old I-got-your-back-dog

I picked him up five years ago the day that I met my wife
Been as loyal as long as the length of my dog-having life
Got an underbite like a dog day of summer is long
And he whimpers and howls in his dreams
To the tune of his song

He ain't no-attack-dog
No-bird-pointing-track-dog
He's far from a lap dog
He's a good old I-got-your-back-dog

If all dogs go to heaven you can just imagine
His white hair trim and tidy
Looking fresh as a pup, all cozied up
At the foot of God Almighty
'Cause he ain't no-attack-dog
No-bird-pointing-track-dog
He's far from a lap dog
He's a good old I-got-your-back-dog

He'll always be a good ol' I-got-your-back-dog
