Yahzick
Barz
Hello Ladies and Gentleman
My name is Yahzick
And today I'm going to show you why hooks don't matter

Now If the rap game is the room then I'm the elephant
I don't want the fame I just wanna remain relevant
I'm murderin’ the beat for the hell of it
Rockin’ the bells like LL and I excel at it
I'm well within my element
I breathe fire, I'm higher than the national debt
See nobody really wanted to admit it but I'm a legitimate thrеat
I'm Fournette in the fourth quartеr on 3rd and 2
Hoppin' on top of the populous choppin’ this up is what I do

See, most hooks are necessary because they serve as a common ground between artist and consumer. But in hip hop none of that matters if you don't have bars

My philosophy is to be modestly wobblin’ on the fence
Honestly I think that acknowledging me is common sense
My policy is to demolish any suspense
My verses are like a word circus I keep 'em intense
And I'm offensive, I stay popping off at the mouth
Dirty south bout to show these boy scouts what it's about
No doubt, Yahzick has been killin' it like a villain
I'm from the Ville and I got 'em feelin' my skill
No equivalent

Hooks aren't about syntax or wordplay. They're about repetition and familiarity. I don't care about the hook so I just focus on the bars

My objective is to command respect
I'm on the set like Inspectah Deck best Protect Your Neck
It's non-stop turboprop got me flyin' direct
I'm chronically ironic I do what they never expect
I'm clever as heck but really I'm just trying to connect
Life is just a thing we all pretend to perfect
But human beings tend to be a little more complex
And I'm ain't talkin' bout Napoleon or Oedipus Rex

Admittedly I have a hard time writing hooks which likely explains my disdain for them. But you know what I can write really well? Bars

See I'm a bard so my bars are my bargaining chips
Like here we go it's On and On Gladys Knight and the Pips
I shoot from the hip try to avoid hammers and clips
I’m stayin’ focused on my grammar and quips, you know the tongue rips
Ever consistent I got it on lock
Smooth as a scotch on the rocks from my head to my socks
I know a thing or two about being unorthodox
Don't get in the ring with Ali just because you think you can box
I also just realized that this dialogue serves as a hook so I'm blatantly contradicting my opinions on repetition and familiarity. Oh well. Back to the bars

I'm an example of the first law of thermodynamics
I'm getting manic while I mull over my mental mechanics
I'm gigantic, not a fan of being sycophantic
If you're the Titanic I'm the iceberg in the North Atlantic
Don't panic, everything is gonna be okay
I think that people should say what they mean and mean what they say
You gotta know when to battle and when to run away and when to waste time sittin’ on the dock of the bay

So I'll concede that hooks have their place, but it doesn't make me dislike them any less. I think if I was looking for an artist to model I wouldn't look at the hook, I’d look at the bars

Maybe we just need to take a break from all the nonsense
Staring down the barrel of an abundance of content
Information overload is nothin’ but the enemy
Our efficient communication is the remedy

Well alright then
I guess I’ve said my peace
Stay Rad everybody
And oh yeah...Drop Bars
