Feel Something (feat. Duncan Laurence) - Commentary
[Spoken Word]
I wrote "Feel Something" with Leland on my first trip to Los Angeles. I was invited by Capitol Records to fly over to LA and do some writing sessions. It was such a fun time. I remember the session quite clearly. The weather was really nice, but we locked ourselves up in quite a dark, old studio on the first floor of a building on a street in the middle of Los Angeles. That's when the demo "Feel Something" was born. Far before quarantine. But now that I listen back to it, actually, it surprises me how much it talks about the loneliness that probably, a lot of people are going through in the world right now, in quarantine. After meeting Armin at an awards show in Amsterdam, we decided to go into the studio to see if we could make something together. Starting off the session, I played him "Feel Something". He was super enthusiastic and he asked me, like, if he could finish it off, and turn it into a "Featuring". It was such a cool thing to see our song develop from a demo into the finished song that it is now, and I'm really, really proud of this one. I think it's a great track, and I'm proud to add to my first album ever. I hope people will love it - the song, but also the album of course, it means so much to me. I think it really is the start of something beautiful.
