Loves You Like I Couldn’t Do - Commentary
[Spoken Word]
To me, this is the true ballad of the album. I remember writing "Loves You Like I Couldn't Do" somewhere in England, close to London, behind Jamie Scott's beautiful grand piano. The melody and chords were there quite quickly, but the lyrics... man, the lyrics. We really wanted to find that spot of having the right lyrics, phonetically and story-wise, and also leaving in the middle what, kind of, happened to end the relationship that we were singing about. Likе, no blame, no guilt, just purely wishing someonе farewell, and good luck with their next, hopefully more successful, steps in finding love. When it all came together, though, I remember being so, so, so proud and listening to the track over and over again. I love it. I just love it.
