The Mechanisms
“Judgement”
[Spoken: Jonny d'Ville]
The three Pendragons knew none of this as they opened the lifepod. The light blinked green and the Captain's eyes opened. His mouth moved, as if trying to form words as the long sleep wore off. They raised their guns and shot him dead.

They took the GRAIL, and placed it in a lifepod in the centre of the chamber. With a whir of ancient machinery they began to rise upwards through the station until they found themselves in centre of the round table, in the town hall of Camelot. From the console, a crackling voice spoke:

[Voice]
“Please designate a Captain for final authorisation.”

[Jonny d'Ville]
It was only then they realised there could be only one Captain, with complete and total control of the GRAIL. Though Arthur was perhaps the foremost among them, they had always ruled as three, their ambitions kept in check by love for the other two. But now they found they had spread around the table, and their hands were over their guns.

Outside, on the nearby Camlann wastes, the rest of Camelot gathered to meet the Saxon delegation. On that field, two hundred Saxons and maybe twice that of townsfolk looked each other in the eyes for perhaps the first time. And there, before them all, Mordred walked and offered a hand of friendship.

He did not see the scorpion that crawled near him, nor the ghoul who drew her Seax to slay it. Be he did hear the shot Gawain fired when he saw the drawn weapon. And then death and bloodshed were all that he heard.
