Charles Mingus
The Wanderer
Along the many side roads of my mind
I found true love
In my own inspiration
The voice silenced for too long
I needed to get up
I wanted to break free of this
Non-progression in my life
Without soul
How can you live?
If I lose my heart I’ll lose my head
There’s only darkness

If you don’t try and don’t know
How do you expect to keep your star
Shining bright in your heart?
I want to go higher
I need a hand
I’m reaching for you
Come into the light
Moments like these are few
Don’t waste time
Don’t waste time

The cool sand is free to move with the tide
But my Voice and I
Are left paralyzed
Are left paralyzed by the ocean side
And in another world, this world
If we can’t be ourselves
What is the point in living a life that’s not our own?
They call me the wanderer
I’ll follow my own trail
It will never be easy
I’ll get lost along the way
In search of my heart
My soul and its mate
I start to realize
It’s never too late
Every step you take is one step closer
And if you don’t you won’t
Live, Life
Life
