We will assist you in developing a program which you can adhere to and which will provide maximum benefits in the shortest amount of time.

Before embarking on any exercise program it is important to determine your overall health and to assess your fitness level and abilities. We will assist you in this process.

Stretching

Specific programs are available for each region of the spine and for the extremities. Each program, following a short learning curve, can be done in 10 to 15 minutes each day.

My clinical experience with these stretches are that when done as instructed they are highly effective in reducing pain and disability and enhance your quality of life.

Stretching Exercise

Gym or Therapy Ball
For patients with core or postural issues one of the simplest and least expensive, yet highly effective, programs incorporates a daily gym ball routine. Core and postural muscles are often deconditioned by our work and lifestyles.

Additionally, many of these patients have postural issues due to degenerative spinal conditions. The chronic injuries lead to neural changes which shut off core or postural muscles. Chiropractic treatment of these underlying conditions combined with a good exercise program can help to stabilize their condition.

I have exercise routines which take from 8-15 minutes a day that have proven to be beneficial for many of my patients. Many people use gym balls at work instead of/or in addition to their office chair and have seen improvement in their pain levels and posture.

Cardio or Aerobic Exercise

Part of every fitness program includes cardiovascular exercise designed to enhance endurance. This is an area of health which is constantly changing and is confusing for health care practitioners and patients. This is one of those areas where common sense and having realistic goals is imperative.

Many people think that you have to run to get fit and that is simply not true. For many, the impact of running would be far more detrimental than helpful. Patients with a history of back, hip, knee, and foot problems should consider other options.

Walking, swimming, and water jogging are all viable options. Cycling, spinning, stair-climbers, and elliptical machines can also be beneficial.

The important thing is know your current fitness level, impediments to training, and any other health issues which may impact your ability to exercise. This is something that I can help you with regardless of your age and health.
