I Remember 2006
Cameras, and Their Purple Eyes
And they are everywhere we look
Surrounded once again
And they desire to rip us apart
Their claws; their jaws are hungry
Hiding from the horde
Waiting for the moment to strike
And when the opportunity arises
We take our shot

Tearing through the onslaught
As the hounds seek to shred our heels
Take one dog under our wing
From these changed people
No time to look backwards
We flee through a field
And find solace in the forest
A place to escape to

Paths branch off
Into tributaries
And we run down them
Refusing to turn around
Behind us doesn't exist
We think as we sprint
Further into the forest
Dirt being kicked around
It's still dark outside
And we keep on running
And we find a pit
And it all goes quiet
So, we go to head out of the trees
And the dark suffocates the paths
But muscle memory is all we need
For us to get out of here

Then, through the trees, something glows
Purple eyes glare down on me
And I stare right at them
But I don't think anything about it
We then make our way out of the forest
And the onslaught is all just gone
So, we start to celebrate in the field
And I take pictures of us celebrating

But unbeknownst to me what the camera had caught
A figure loomed right behind me
A tall being with sharp claws
A long snout and a long, pointed tail
And their purple eyes, wide open, staring right at the camera
A sinister glare burned onto the footage
And in every single image that was taken
Their claws ever reach closer to me
