Born Yesterday
The Palmerstown stars
Even filled up on tears
Were always unable
To comfort me here

I don't need another illusion
That kind of flight always dragged me down
And before I know it I'm back to back with where I started
A girl on circus grounds

The night is a free feeling
Yet dawn you've decided to stay
I can't keep moving this slow
I wasn't born yesterday

The occasional drink
We were under one roof
You'd read me your poetry
God's honest truth

We would like there forever
And never tire, as we went
And look through each other, if you remember
For what heaven might have sent

Ah sure how can I explain it
When I never knew
What should come to me so easily
When you followed me out of the room

The night is a free feeling
Yet dawn you've decided no change
I can't keep moving this slow
I wasn't born yesterday

I've gone over you heads
And I'm too young to know
The only time I won't be bored to tears
Is with someone to hold

And I know how it's hard
You have to give of yourself
But I'd rather be struggling with love
Than with everything else

So no more of this waiting, Jesus
I can no longer, no longer be delayed
The night is a free feeling
I wasn't born yesterday
