My mother was wise
She always told me
Don`t follow the crowd
Unless there`s something to see,
Step out of the box
Think for yourself
Do some research
It`s all on the shelf,
The books are there for you to flip through
Choose one of your own
That`s the best thing to do.

Mum said, books are like life
Much knowledge is there
Enough for all if we just share.

I was told to
Remember my 'thank you`s'
Remember my 'please'
They don`t cost a penny
Not even a sneeze,

She said,
'Hold your head high
As through life you travel

You then will unravel'.

My mum is now gone
But in my thoughts she`s still here
My beautiful mum
That I hold so dear.
