Alas my heart is broken
Never again will it be whole
He promised me his true love
But was just acting out a role.

I looked towards the future
Convinced our love would entwine
As he caressed me tenderly
And assured me he would be mine.

Then he walked across my soul
Without a thought or care,
Now his new love enjoys the passion
I thought he and I would share.

I`ll pull myself together
While I redeem some of my pride
But my confidence is shattered
Now my eyes have been opened wide.
