Pendragon
Bird Of Paradise
Born of pure Brazilian blood
On the wrong side of town
A street fighting neighbourhood
An innocent victim of circumstance
One day surely you’ll get your chance
Staring at herself in the mirror’s reflection
Far from a world of mystery and perfection
Picking at painted fingernails
Tossing her hair when all else fails
Sulking into large cocktails until the strangers fade away
And she starts to wonder what her life might be
If the flower bloomed
And the princess blossomed and became the queen
She walked into a crowd
And everyone would stare
Would they laugh outloud?
Would anybody care?
And the dream dissolved and she had to hide
When they crushed her soul and fed on her pride
Bird of paradise
Proud as a peacock with a thousand eyes
Soaring high as your heart might take you
They’ll say in the years she made dreams come true

Now has come the time to see her shine
And cross that line
There’s nobody here today can stand up and say that she ever walked away
There’s nobody here today could look her in the eye and say that she ever walked away
There’s nobody here today can stand up and say that she ever walked away
Half closed eyes scan the papers of lies
For her name to be written in lights
So long gone the jesters and judges
The painful and dark Friday nights
How come it’s taken this long for the good to be right
And so strong?
Did she just lose her soul in the fight
And stole away in the night
And she starts to wonder what her life became
As the flower bloomed
And the princess blossomed and became the queen
She walked into a crowd
And everyone would stare
No one laughed outloud
And everybody cared
And the dream held true and she never had to hide
With her head held high with dignity and pride

Bird of paradise
Proud as a peacock with a thousand eyes
Soaring high as your heart might take you
They’ll say in the years she made dreams come true
Now has come the time to see her shine
And cross that line

And the paper boy hold the news of what might have been
With his hand held high
He shouts to the bustling crowd
That the princess grew up and became the queen
